ikki Nicholson is 2012 European Open Champion

Mikki Nicholson (on right of photo) emerged as the clear winner of the 4th European Open Scrabble Championship. Nicholson won the 32-round tournament with one game to spare, getting the better of fellow Englishman Craig Beevers and the player from Singapore Siu Hean Cheah who finished second and third respectively. The Maltese flag flew high with Cecil Muscat and Nicky Vella Laurenti taking the Section B ratings prizes for 1st and 2nd respectively thanks to an excellent performance that saw Muscat place 10th and Laurenti 11th overall. Section C ratings prizes 1st and 2nd went respectively to Englishman Dave Hoskisson and Northern Irish Nuala O'Rourke. Champion Nicholson will now seek to follow up on his success in the 5th Malta International Scrabble Open.
