En a March for the honours

March is a pivotal month in Malta's competitive Scrabble season. It is the time when the Malta National Scrabble Championship reaches its critical phase and when Scrabble players and administrators poise themselves to live a memorable week of world Scrabble on their home soil, namely the MISO (Malta International Scrabble Open).

In the midst of so much expectation, March also offers two one-day tournaments within less than two weeks of each other. The first of these two days of Scrabble, on March 19, is set to pan out as a microcosmic replica of the duel between Malta's two most successful players, Theresa Brousson and David Delicata (shown in photo), a duel that is currently being played out on a much larger scale in the National Championship

Over and above the prestige and satisfaction of winning the St Joseph One-Day Tournament, the two rivals will also be looking to score psychological points over one another in the runup to a nerve-wracking finale of this tense championship contest.
