The Club has a rich calendar of events. The main event on the domestic front is the National League (NL) whilst the Malta International Scrabble Open (MISO) is open to foreign players.

Leagues are played over a period of three months. Participants have the option of playing once or twice a week. The official playing days for leagues are Monday and Thursday (p.m.). Leagues are played according to a round-robin format, where all play all.

Tournaments are played over a period of one to three days. The MISO is played over a weekend. MSC also organises One-Day Tournaments throughout the year. All tournaments are played according to a Swiss format of play, i.e. players are paired according to their performance.

Leagues are held at the Club premises. The Club’s current premises are at the headquarters of the Malta Playing Fields Association, which are centrally located within the King George V Recreational Gardens in Floriana. Tournaments are held away from the Club’s premises.

In all leagues and tournaments, the points penalty challenge rule is applied, i.e. a -5 point penalty is inflicted for every correct word challenged on the player who makes the challenge. The Collins Scrabble Words is the Club’s official word reference source.
